About India Skills Competition by National Skill Development Corporation
WorldSkills India is an comprehensive initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and supported by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. NSDC, with this WorldSkills India initiative is preparing the youth for the active participation at WorldSkills International competitions since 2011.

NSDC is helping out the youth to polish their skills so that they can finally represent India at the WorldSkills International Competitions.
It is a biennial competition which provides a platform where youths can display their skills with utmost perfection and make India proud.
The next WorldSkills Competition is going to be held in August 18, 2019 to August 23, 2019 in Kazan, Russia.
Aim of India Skills Competition 2018
The main aim of this India Skill India initiative by National Skill Development Corporation is to motivate the youth to pursue vocational education and to provide global exposure to them.
This initiative will provide a chance to the youth to demonstrate their talent at India Skills Competition 2018.
Inviting the youth to participate in the India Skills Competition Jayant Krishna, ED & COO said, “Last year at the WorldSkills competition in Abu Dhabi India registered its best ever performance, thanks to the skilled youth and their expert trainers who represented our country. We would like to accelerate the momentum and achieve new milestones at the next year’s WorldSkills competition in Russia. This could be possible only with the untiring efforts and sustained excellence of our youth. I, therefore, invite the young skilled Indians to apply for the IndiaSkills 2018 and test their mettle against the best in the country.”
Who can Apply for this competition?
Any skilled person born on or after 1st January 1997 could participate in any of the skills with the exception to Aircraft Maintenance, Manufacturing Team Challenge and Mechatronics, where the candidate should have been born on or after 1st January 1994.
There is no bar of education.
The various categories in which youths can showcase their talent are as follows: Wall & Floor Tiling, Cooking, Electronics, Wielding, Brick Laying, Graphic Designing, Beauty Therapy, Web Designing, IT Software Solution for business, etc. There are a total of 52 skills in which a candidate can participate.
How to Apply for India Skills Competition 2018?
The last day for registration is 10th February 2018.
A registration portal will be opened for participating in IndiaSkills Competitions in partnership with state governments. The State governments will be conducting district and local competitions in each state to select the best skilled person from their respective states. The state champions will be called for regional competitions where they will be showcasing their skills in that particular region. After the regional competitions, the top scorer will make it to the IndiaSkills Competitions i.e National Competitions.
To participate in the competition one has to log in to WorldSkills India website and fill in the details and category of skills one like to apply in.
