There were series of events including the inaugural speech by Amrita Choudhary which was followed by the introductions where all the present participants introduce themselves and the importance of internet for them.
Then Pankaj Chaturvedi, Secretary ISOC Delhi spoke about the ISOC Delhi community and Dr. Govind, President ISOC Delhi addressed to the audience all around the world who is celebrating this Silver Jubilee of ISOC in a live session.
During this a big fat cake was cut by the leaders of the communities from around different parts of India to celebrate this day of great importance.
I cannot tell you how tasty the chocolate fudge cake was as I am still feeling its taste in my mouth.
After the cake cutting ceremony there was a panel discussion on the topic “Digital Divides“.
Moderator: Amrita Choudhury, ISOC Delhi Chapter
- Mr Osama Manzar – Digital Empowerment Foundation
- Ms. Japleen Pasricha – Feminism India
- T.Santhosh – Additional Director, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India
The discussion moved around penetration of internet in the developing countries, internet accessibility, revoke of internet use due to gender discrimination and other factors. It was a healthy discussion and many points were raised that led to great knowledge sharing.
After this panel discussion all the participants moved out in the lawn to have a big group photograph.
It was the time to lunch and I could not resist myself for hot smoking Gulab Jamuns.
During Lunch, the panelists were awarded token of appreciation by Mr. Rajneesh Singh(Internet Society, Regional Director APAC Bureau).
It was the time to greet all and say good bye to all. Waiting for next ICOMM meet for ISOC to discuss and learn more about internet.
